1 of the 10 PV Picks for 2010

Conergy’s SolarGiant III ground mount solar energy solution is earning acclaim as one of 10 Photovoltaic (PV) Picks for 2010, according to the global solar experts at Seoul-based InterPV Magazine.  The SolarGiant was selected as one of InterPV’s 10 PV Picks for 2010 from a pool of more than 929 companies on hand at this past October’s annual Solar Power International conference in Anaheim, California.  The conference drew more than 24,000 industry professionals from 99 countries.

“This installer- friendly, no frills ground-mount solution caught our attention when we heard the feedback of the first contractors to install it in Canada and the U.S., who said they felt its ease of installation and scalability make this modular system a big contender to become the standard of ground-mount solar solutions on the North American continent,” said Jeanny Lim, Editor-In-Chief of InterPV Magazine.

WHO WE ARE

Founded in 1997, Trina Solar Limited (TSL) is an internationally recognized manufacturer of mono and multicrystalline photovoltaic (PV) modules. Our high-quality PV modules provide clean and reliable solar electricity for on and off-grid residential, commercial, and utility-scale applications. Trina Solar is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange. As a company, Trina Solar is committed to improving the competitiveness of solar energy and developing a sustainable PV industry.

HOW WE DO IT

Trina Solar has successfully developed into a leader of the PV industry based on its strong, vertically integrated business model, producing its own ingots, wafers, cells and modules in-house. The control and efficiency achieved from this integrated value chain helps us continuously improve our production processes in order to provide only the highest quality products to our end customers. This commitment to quality is a cornerstone of our long-term partnerships. As we are committed to improving efficiencies and competitiveness, we also look to partner with downstream companies who share those same values, working together to push solar PV towards grid parity.

RECENT SUCCESSES

This past spring, Trina Solar introduced its new “Quad Max” technology. These new high-efficiency cells will boost module power output from 5% to 8% compared to conventional modules. Trina Solar modules provide power to the largest rooftop PV installations on three continents, including our 2.3 MW project at the Atlantic City Convention Center. This will save $4.4 million in electric costs over the life of that project. This past January, we inaugurated a 2 MW facility at Colorado State University that uses more than 8,000 quality Trina Solar modules. Trina Solar also recently signed major deals with leading regional distributors Session Solar and Essco to serve residential markets in the United States and has also agreed to provide nearly 20% of the modules for Southern California Edison’s 250 MW Solar Rooftop Program.

The consumer electronics and energy experts at SANYO want you to “Show your Solar” by capturing and submitting images of unique or broadly-appealing solar tour host sites for ASES’ new National Solar Tour Web site.  And SANYO wants to reward two randomly-selected  solar tour hosts or installers with the new, Dual Camera Camcorder, which records full HD 60i video with 30x optical zoom and glorious digital photos of up to 10 megapixels.

Winners will be selected from among two pools:  1) All who submit snapshots and one-page fact sheets of a solar solution featured on their respective tours and 2) All who submit snapshots and one-page fact summaries of a solar solution featured on their respective tours utilizing SANYO HIT Power® or HIT Double® solar modules.  All snapshots must include a succinct, one-page summary of journalism’s 5 Ws – the Who, What, Where, When and Why of the installation.

National Solar Tour participants may enter as often as they wish.  Only one entry per solar installation.  Contest runs from May 27, 2010 through midnight EDT Labor Day – September 6th, 2010 – in recognition of the green jobs the solar industry is generating as we build America’s new Clean Energy Economy. Please send entries to National Solar Tour Manager Richard Burns, rburns@ases.org.

About SANYO

With industry advances like their highly-efficient, HIT® solar cell and module technology, SANYO has been helping integrators and installers optimize their power generating capabilities on multiple continents for decades. SANYO’s HIT Power® solar modules are known for their high energy conversion efficiency ratings – important to those looking to optimize their solar investment, particularly in today’s economy.  SANYO’s HIT Double® glass-on-glass modules (used in the Edgewood building project) utilize the bi-facial characteristics of HIT cells to generate up to 30% more energy from the panel’s back-side, depending on mounting surface conditions.

The ability of HIT cells to produce electricity from incident sunlight makes the HIT Double® panels popular for building-integrated designs like awnings, pergolas and skylights. SANYO’s solar cells are rated at the highest certified level for conversion efficiency, as are their practical-sized panels. SANYO’s silicon ingots and wafers, core materials in the manufacturing of SANYO’s solar cells and modules, are manufactured in the U.S.A at SANYO facilities in Carson, CA and Salem, OR.

To better address consumers' ongoing interest in solar energy -- and to acquaint them with the benefits of  SANYO's HIT Power® and HIT Double solar modules -- SANYO has launched a new, consumer-focused Web site. This new site not only highlights the economic and social benefits of solar, it explains how solar works and why it's the wisest choice to power just about any consumer's home.

This new site provides installers and consumers with helpful data on costs, incentives and financing.  Click here to learn more and to explore SANYO's new solar calculator feature.
